Wheat Mustard Procurement: A lot of wheat is produced in India. India ranks fourth in wheat production in the world. The government purchases wheat from the markets from the farmers. But this time there has been a huge decline in wheat procurement. Which is quite surprising.
There has been a 37 percent decline in wheat procurement across the country. If we compare this year with last year, till now only 13 percent wheat has been procured. After all, what is the reason behind this? So what is the condition of mustard procurement in the country? Let us know.
Due to this there was a decrease in the purchase of wheat
A total of 60.58 lakh tonnes of wheat was purchased across the country till April 18 this year. In this case, if we talk about the year 2023, the figure here was 95.36 lakh tonnes. If both the years are compared with each other, at present there is a shortage of 35 lakh tonnes. So last year the arrival was 130.97 lakh tonnes.
So this year till 18th April the arrival is only 86.30 lakh tonnes. Regarding the huge reduction in wheat procurement, farmers say that the crop has been affected due to rain. And because of this, wheat has not been able to reach the markets in large quantities. As soon as crop harvesting picks up pace. The arrival of wheat in the markets will also increase.
Mustard sales were not affected
Mustard has been produced in good quantity this year. The government is also increasing the purchase of mustard this year. The government’s aim is to buy maximum mustard at MSC every year. This means that those who have done bumper cultivation of mustard this year can get good profits.
Last year, in the Rabi marketing season, mustard was purchased at SP in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. During this period, 28.24 lakh metric tonnes were purchased. For the Ravi marketing season of 2024, the government has fixed the SP price of mustard at Rs 5650 per quintal. Which is ₹200 more than last season. Farmers will get the right price for their mustard this year.
